Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study has examined how China was viewed in Japan during the Showa period, using the contemporary media of the time. The media used were mainly juvenile magazines (Shōnen Club), movie magazines (Kinema Junpo), elementary school textbooks (Discipline, Japanese Language, Geography, and History), and education magazines (Kyoiku Jiron). Highlighting and examining the discourses on China from the media mentioned above, how China was being talked about and taught have been clarified. An extensive study of the major media articles in Japan during the Showa period has been able to show the prevailing view of China at the time.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
