Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study is designed to understand the specific situation of children and parents involved in child abuse in which parents fabricate or induce a child's illness to make the child receive medical treatment (Munchhausen Syndrome by Proxy, hereinafter referred to as MSBP), and to identify the background factors of MSBP and challenges. The results suggest that medical social workers who have encountered suspected MSBP cases are hesitant to report to or consult with related institutions because few of them actually made a report or have a consultation. Also, it became clear that, in the case of MSBP, it is necessary to grasp the complete medical history of the child from the initial treatment and to take careful measures to separate the child from the parent.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
