Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the effectiveness and limitations of a subtitle presentation system as an information assurance technology for classroom use. In this study, we evaluated the usability of the user interface of the support system in terms of the display position of the speech bubble type subtitle, assuming a real-world situation in which multiple people are engaged in a discussion. The results suggest that the speech bubble type subtitle supports the reading of information on the speakers or their statements in a multi-person discussion scene in terms of time, compared with the general subtitle format. The results of this study indicate that speech bubble type subtitles are useful as a method of information assurance in multi-person discussion situations.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
