Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
On this project, I sought to investigate the feasibility of using cognitive models as a tool in the design of cognitive training games.
I implemented cognitive models in the Leabra algorithm and also in Nengo using the Neural Engineering Framework. I then attempted to replicate findings from previous research on cognitive training.
While the project was hindered by the effects of the novel coronavirus (access to equipment, changes to conference schedules, increased teaching workload due to online classes), I was still able to gain valuable insights about the potential usefulness of cognitive models in the design of cognitive training games, and identify several significant challenges to this approach. I am currently submitting paper(s) to journals/conferences.
