Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study is to develop a novel laparoscope which can provide simultaneous optical/gamma images during cancer surgery. We designed the hybrid optical/gamma imaging system to provide simultaneous optical and gamma fusion images for cancer detection during laparoscope surgery. The first prototype optical/gamma hybrid laparoscope will be developed. Our proposed hybrid laparoscope can improve the detection efficiency of sentinel lymph node (SLN) during laparoscope surgery of prostate caner.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The system design of the optical/gamma hybrid laparoscope was done using GATE Monte Carlo simulation software, and ZEMAX optical simulation software successfully.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The prototype optical/gamma hybrid laparoscope system will be developed in this year. The performance of gamma imaging and optical imaging will be evaluated using dedicated phantoms, respectively.
