Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The purpose of this study was to accelerate the study by using a premature aging mouse called Polg mutant, and to investigate whether dietary time restricted feeding (TRF) is effective for longevity and aging. However, in Polg mutant mice, almost no effect of TRF could be confirmed. On the other hand, WT mice showed positive effects in grip strength and treadmill tests. In addition, another research group in the United States conducted TRF using WT and reported in 2020 that it had a life-prolonging effect. Therefore, we considered that TRF is likely to have an effect on WT, and considered that "the anti-aging effect of TRF is not observed in Polg mutant mice because mitochondrial function is reduced." The normal function of mitochondria is important for longevity.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
