Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, first, a social map and district typology were created using GIS, the aggregation indicators were analysed and the survey data were re-analysed. Second, a sampling survey was conducted in several districts of Osaka City in 2019, and a web-based survey was conducted in 2021, expanding the target to the Osaka Urban Employment Area. Third, a field survey on daily mobility and gentrification was conducted in several European cities. The 2021 survey provided mobility data, which will allow us to analyse patterns of residential history. Some of the research findings were published in the edited volume 'Research on the Osaka-Kobe Metropolitan Area' (2022) and several other papers.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

都市セグリゲーションと貧困の研究は、福祉レジームによる違いなど、比較対象が拡大している。近年は都市の「モビリティ」に関する問題が注目されているが、主に理論的議論が多く、日本の社会学ではセグリゲーション、都市モビリティと階層、不平等との関係の実証研究は未着手である。本研究では、最新の調査法、分析手法を駆使して、これまで社会学の分野では十分に活用されてこなかったデータを取り入れ新たな分析を発展させることによって、理論的な問題設定を経験的な研究へと展開する。そのさいに、モビリティに焦点を当てることによって現在の格差問題の新たな課題を明らかにすることができる。
