Outline of Final Research Achievements |
(1) The purpose was to explore the factors related to the acquisition of 71 kana characters. For this purpose, we conducted a task to measure various abilities such as the reading acquisition status of 71 kana characters and phonological awareness in typically developing children, and explored the relationship. In addition, we compared a child with specific reading disabilities(dyslexia) and a typically developing child, and examined the factors that hinder the acquisition of kana. (2) We explored the factors that affect the writing of special syllables of kana and katakana, and kanji okurigana for a child with specific reading disabilities. As a result, it was shown that mastering 71 kana characters requires phonological awareness and auditory discrimination ability, and that problems with these abilities lead to problems with learning special syllables of kana and katakana. On the other hand, it was found that there was no problem with the notation of okurigana in kanji.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
言葉を音として理解する「音韻意識(phonological awareness)」は読み書きの背景要因となると言われてきたが、本研究によって聴覚弁別の力も仮名やカタカナの習得に影響することが示された。このことは、評価方法や指導方法を検討する上で、プラスになると考えられ、読み書きや音韻意識の指導の前に、聞き分けの力を測定し、それを改善することで、読み書きの向上につながることが示唆された。
