Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This research aims at elucidation of the extension of republicanism in the early modern Holy Roman Empire. By relying on H. Conring’s political writings, it reveals how republican theory was utilized for reconstruction of the constitution after the Thirty Years War. Conring and princes appealed that the Empire should develop republican institutions instead of absolute monarchy, because the ‘German societies’ formed an aristocratic republicanism from ancient times.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
