Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this study is to clarify how the "Peace City" of Hiroshima was created and how its urban ideology and built environment have intertwined to make an urban dynamism. In doing so, this study has been conducted with an awareness of the interconnections between urban theory and field analysis as follows. (1) Developing a theoretical framework for conducting an urban study of modern and contemporary Hiroshima: introducing postcolonial urban theory. (2) An examination of urban movements and media events in Hiroshima from the 1920s to the 1950s, centered on the slogan "Greater Hiroshima”. (3) Final output will be created by combining the urban theory and case studies written above.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
