Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study examined children’s judgment of prosocial behaviors focusing on the past behavior of the recipient. The results showed that it was possible for children aged 4 to 6 years to judge prosocial behaviors in consideration of whether or not the recipients have behaved prosocially in the past. It was also shown that children judged a person who did not behave prosocially in the past would not necessarily repeat non-prosocial act.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究によって，幼児が，向社会的行動の対象者に応じて，その行動の適切性や，行動実行・不実行の結果生じる影響について，どのように理解しているかが明らかになった。向社会的行動に関する理解のあり方は，その行動の実行にも影響を及ぼすものであり，本研究の知見は，向社会的行動の実行メカニズムの発達に関する理論的発展をもたらすものである。また，本研究の知見は，向社会的行動が持つ意味を文脈に応じて理解し，適切な行動選択を可能にするための介入においても有用な視点となる。
