Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I have carried out field surveys at Miyakejima and Shinmoedake to collect geological samples. These samples have been prepared for analytical work to be undertaken at the Geological Survey of Japan. I have finalized the method for integrating crystal orientation and compositional data for orthopyroxene in volcanic rocks. This work has been submitted as a manuscript and is accepted in a high impact factor, open access international journal. I have tested the method for integrating crystal orientation and compositional data for olivine in volcanic rocks, and data collection is ongoing for this part of the project.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Generally, this project has been progressing as planned. Field surveys were successful, thanks to suitable planning and weather. Laboratory closures during March to May have slightly delayed data collection.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Data collection will proceed as planned for the project, despite some delays due to laboratory closures. Because of international travel restrictions, attendance at conferences in Greece and New Zealand may be postponed.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to some laboratory closures, spending on analytical expenses was delayed and will be undertaken in the next fiscal year instead.
