Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The addition of 1,2,and 3wt% Re into Co-Ni superalloy was conducted. Tensile tests were conducted at room temperature (RT) and 700 degree centigrade. At RT after addition of 1 wt% Re, the tensile strength is same with that of no Re alloy while the elongation increased to 12% from 6%. After addition of 2 wt% Re, tensile elongation further increased to 23%. However, when the content of Re reached 3 wt%, the tensile strength decreased even-though the tensile elongation is still 20%. Moreover, at high temperature the similar effect caused by Re is also observed. Tensile elongation reached to 15% from 3% after addition of 2 wt% Re. The microstructure shows that after Re addition the grain boundary is enhanced. This indicated that the creep resistance could also be improved by addition of Re.
