Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have studied on static and dynamic magnetic properties of the Pt/Co/Cr2O3/Pt stacked films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in order to understand their perpendicular magnetic anisotropy constant (K_U) and the effective out-of-plane damping constant. K_U gradually decreases as the Co layer thickness (t_Co) increases. Damping constant monotonically decreases as t_Co increases up to 0.9 nm, and keeps unchanged as t_Co is in between 0.9 nm and 1.2 nm. Damping constant and K_U increase as the Pt layer thickness (t_Pt) is smaller than 5 nm, and then keep constant when t_Pt is in between 5 nm and 20 nm. These results demonstrate that both damping constant and K_U are very sensitive to t_Co, suggesting the spin-orbital coupling origin of the damping constant enhancement in these system.
