Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Almost all through the period of this JSPS research project, with differences in countermeasures between Japan and the UK, undeniably the COVID-19 disaster affected our research programs to no small extent. Nevertheless, we sought for collaborative research activities by online meetings and it turned out that the planned goals were largely achieved with open online meetings in which the overseas joint researcher participated. For the subjects of this project, in particular, by setting the perspective of the third force in art history, we came to consider it as a comprehensive category, instead of viewing it as a peripheral existence such as patrons, collectors, mecenas and arriere-guard against avant-garde, which were previously seen as individual phenomena. By considering it as a research object, it became more possible to approach the dynamics of art history more.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
