Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This international collaborative research project aims to clarify how pottery was used in the Early Dynastic Period of China by examining the pottery and the cultivated plants that were used for cooking. The international collaborative research project was carried out with local collaborators during the author's stay at the Laboratory of Archaeobotany, University Colledge London. Covid-19 forced changes to the plan. However, results were achieved in four areas: 1) Creating a database of excavated charred cultivated plants, 2) Understanding the characteristics of various cultivated plants and the methods of processing and cooking them, 3) Introducing and implementing micro-structural analysis, and 4) Hosting an international symposium. In particular, results in 2) exceeded expectations.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
