Research Abstract |
The target of this project is to dynamically control photonic crystals to create new functionalities, and to develop a new academic field called: “ Dynamic Photonic Crystal”. We have successfully demonstrated that (1) an optical pulse can be held effectively, and can be rapidly released on demand by the dynamic control of the Q factor of the photonic crystal nanocavity , and (2) t he dynamic change of the characteristics of photonic crystal waveguides produces dynamic charact eristic and behavior changes of photons propagating in the photonic crystals.
