Research Abstract

本研究はセラミックス構造材料に対して時間軸の概念を適用し、これを実験的に検証することによって、セラミックスの有する潜在的な機能の覚醒をもたらすものである。以下のような小項目に取り組んだ。
1)セラミックスの生産、利用、リサイクルのライフサイクルを考慮した材料設計およびプロセスの実証を行う。セラミックスの微細加工法としてのナノインプリント法の優位性を明らかとした。この際、金型材料としてはシリコン、石英の他に、カーボンをナノレベルで加工した物を利用し、これら金型を微細なセラミックス粉末に押し当てることで、ナノレベルの成型体の合成に成功した。さらにこれを焼結することによって、ナノレペルの微細構造を有する焼結体の合成に成功している。特に、アルミナ、チタニア、酸化亜鉛などの酸化物系セラミックスに対して、同手法を適用し、それぞれの材料の焼結挙動とナノ構造との間に相関性があることを見いだした。
2)セラミックスの特性発現における時間依存性、種々の時間におけるセラミックスの現象解析と新規機能性の発掘を行った。これまで殆ど検討されてこなかった、パルス的なエネルギー印加場とセラミックスとの相互作用を近年の計測技術の進歩によりナノ秒オーダーでの計測が可能となった各種短時間計測手法で測定する。特に、セラミックスの粉末を合成するための新手法である、パルス細線放電法のプロセスの課程をマイクロ秒オーダーで次のようなパラメタ、例えば、電流、発光分光スペクトル、プラズマ温度、ガス温度のパラメタを測定する手法を確立した。
