Research Abstract

脊椎動物における卵巣分化の制御メカニズムに関する研究は、哺乳類ではまだ遅れており、魚類を対象とした研究が進んでいる。研究代表者の長濱らは、芳香化酵素阻害剤を用いてエストロゲン合成を抑制させたティラピアの生殖腺形成を詳しく解析することにより、魚類の卵巣分化にエストロゲン(エストラジオール-17β)が不可欠であることを明らかにしてきた。また、C21ステロイド、特に長濱らが卵成熟誘起ホルモンとして世界に先駆け魚類で同定した17α,20β-ジヒドロキシ-4-プレグネン-3-オン(DHP)が生殖細胞の減数分裂開始にも重要な役割を果している可能性を示唆した。そこで本研究では、魚類(メダカとティラピア)の卵巣分化時における性ホルモン、特にエストロゲンとDHPの作用機構を細胞・分子(遺伝子)レベルで明らかにすることを目指す。
