Research Abstract

物体視に関わる高次視覚野はヒトでは下側頭葉後部に広がる。この下側頭葉後部の領域の中に、顔や街並などに選択的に反応するボクセルが固まって数センチあるいはそれ以上の領域があることは、数多くのfMRI研究により示されている。しかし、下側頭葉後部のコラムレベル(0.5-1ミリ程度)の局所領域の平均的神経活動がどのような刺激選択性を持つかは不明である。本研究では、高解像度fMRI技術を用いて、ヒト下側頭葉皮質後部領域における0.5-1ミリ程度の局所領域の平均的神経活動の物体カテゴリーレベルおよびサブカテゴリーレベルでの選択性を調べる。まず初めは、紡錘状回のいわゆる顔領域およびまわりの領域で、顔と他の物体カテゴリーに対する選択性を低解像度の実験を行う。次に、各カテゴリー内の局所領域の神経活動の選択性をパラメーターで表示される刺激に対する高解像度の実験を行い、ヒト下側頭葉の物体視コラム構造を調べる。
