Research Abstract |
We have performed experiments in order to improve the signal to noise ratio(SNR) of high-resolution echo-planar imaging(EPI) images around human inferotemporal cortex. To achieve this goal, we have adjusted experimental parameters using phantoms as well as human subjects by implementing novel parallel imaging techniques and using RF coils specifically designed for these experiments. In addition, using EPI at conventional spatial resolutions, we have localized object-category related brain regions around human fusiform gyrus as well as surrounding cortical regions. Substantial advancement has been made in revealing object-related columnar structures in these object-related inferotemporal cortical regions in experiments using high-resolution approaches.
