| Research Abstract |
(1)全地球規模の雲雨の観測を行う
FALCON-Iを(独)海洋研究開発機構(JAMSTEC)の海洋地球研究船「みらい」に搭載し、太平洋の中北部、北極海、インド洋などの広い海域で、雲観測を実施する。
(2)上記(1)で得たデータに基づき、地球規模での雲の構造などを解明する
地球上の広い海域で観測した雲のデータを解析し、衛星からのデータなどと総合することで、さまざまな海域・種類の雲について、多角的で詳細な解明を行う。特に、海洋ごとの雲と雨の存在率、垂直構造、などの量を、1つの装置で均質なデータに基づいて導出することは、地球温暖化のエネルギー収支の問題解明に向けた、グローバルな気候モデルシミュレーションなどに有用となる。
(3)走査型ミリ波レーダFALCON-IIIを開発する
既存のFALCON-I の性能評価を行い、それを基礎に、さらなる高度化開発を行う。またその成果を生かして、走査型のミリ波雲レーダであるFALCON-IIIを開発する。
