| Research Abstract |
本研究は、パプア諸語のうち、南ブーゲンヴィル諸語と東シンブー諸語を対象とした、比較言語学的研究を目的とする。
それぞれの言語グループを専門とする大西正幸(研究代表者)と千田俊太郎(研究分担者)が、各言語グループの主要な言語や方言の語彙・形態データを、現地調査を通して収集し記述するとともに、稲垣和也(連携研究者)と寺村裕史(連携研究者)の協力のもと、データベースや言語地図を作成する。そしてそのデータの比較言語学的分析を行ない、それらの言語/方言の下位分類と、祖語の再構を目指す。また、研究の過程で、互いのデータ分析を検討し合いながら、パプア諸語の比較言語学的分析に共通する重要課題の、理論的・実践的解決を模索する。
長期的には、両研究者は、本研究の成果をもとに、ブーゲンヴィル諸語とシンブー諸語のすべての言語と方言の通時的関係を明らかにすることを目指している。
