磯根資源の着底・成育場としてのサンゴモ生態系の構造と機能の解明

Research Abstract

相模湾長井沿岸の無節サンゴモ、有節サンゴモ、およびテングサ群落内から周年にわたり定量的に採集された貝類について、20年度に確立された各種貝類の発育段階初期の同定手法を用い、発生直後の微小個体を含めた全ての発育段階について種判別を行った。このうち、個体数密度または出現頻度が高かった30種(グループ)について、種毎の出現動態を詳細に解析した。その結果、26種(グループ)について、生活史や生態に関する新たな知見が得られた。そのうち23種(グループ)については、調査期間中における産卵期が推定でき、その多くが夏季から秋季に産卵を行うことが明らかとなった。また、13種(グループ)については、発生直後から数カ月間にわたる成長過程を追跡することができた。
有節サンゴモ群落およびテングサ群落に選択的に着底するサザエについて、給餌実験および摂餌器官である歯舌の形態観察により、成長段階ごとに食性を推定し、有節サンゴモ群落とテングサ群落内におけるサザエにとっての餌料環境を調査した。また、有節サンゴモ類やテングサ類の藻体上の付着珪藻密度を人為的に変化させた給餌実験を行うことにより、これらの海藻藻体と藻体上に付着する珪藻の餌料価値を比較した。その結果、サザエ初期稚貝にとっては、有節サンゴモ類の藻体自体の餌料価値は低く、藻体上の付着珪藻が主要な餌料であることが明らかになった。サザエ稚貝は、殻高約3mm以上に成長するとテングサ類藻体を餌料として利用できることが分かった。また、上記の調査で長井沿岸の有節サンゴモおよびテングサ群落内に最も高い密度で生息する貝類種であったチグサガイとサザエ稚貝を用いた給餌実験を行った結果、これら両種は付着珪藻を巡る強い競合関係にあることが明らかになった。
