Research Abstract |
Plant characteristics of view, smell, tactile sense and taste function as information when herbivore livestock recognizes plants as feed. Herbivore livestock selected plant species by verifying the information based on its past experiences, and recognized morphological characteristics, quality and quantity in diverse vegetation. Particularly, herbivores tended to strongly prefer feeds with large bite size and sweet taste. Associative learning of these factors is effective to control foraging behavior of herbivore livestock in diverse vegetation.
