| Research Abstract |
急速な高齢化が進行するわが国では、高齢者の生活の質を維持向上させるために、骨折の原因となる骨粗鬆症(Osteoporosis : OP)、および膝痛、腰痛、歩行障害の原因となる変形性関節症(Osteoarthritis : OA)の予防が焦眉の課題となってきたが、わが国におけるOP、OAの疫学研究は少なく、疾病予防対策を立てる上で大きな障害となっていた。そこで、本研究において、我々は従来長期追跡を行ってきた住民コホートにさらに長期の追跡を行うと同時に(長期コホート)、このコホートを母体として、対象者の枠を拡大し、大規模住民コホートとして新たにベースライン調査を行い情報を収集する(拡大コホート)。これらを追跡することにより、OP、OAの発生率を推定し、それらに影響を及ぼす要因を明らかにする。さらにこれら疫学指標の国際比較も行う。
