Research Abstract |
We propose a system for visualizing the indented characters on paper. To take the image of the entire area in uniform illuminance, the mechanism of the image scanner is employed. To detect the indented patterns, the oblique lighting is utilized. To pick up the strokes in various directions, a turntable with angular control is used. The surface of the paper is scanned at some turning angles. After orienting these images in the same direction, these images are synthesized by image multiplication. The shadow areas and the highlight areas of every stroke appear on the synthesized image, and the characters can be read easily.
