Research Abstract |
This study examined the possession of narratives (setsuwa) and origin legends (engi) of Imperial Library Collection around the mid-17th century. The conclusions are follows : 1)There were several origin legends of temples and shrines in Kinai area before the mid-17th century. But the kinds of books at that time were different from today's one because of the difference of policy of re-collection after the fire in 1661 which burnt the previous collection. 2)Narratives such as"Kojidan"and"Senjusho"had been also stored in the collection before the fire which are not transmitted now with a few exceptions.
