| Research Abstract |
By analyzing in terms of cognitive pragmatics 'reported speech,' where deictic phenomena are typically realized, I explained that broader speech events and what has not been regarded as 'reported speech' can be involved in metarepresentation. It has also turned out that kureru/morau/ageru and tai/tagatteiru in Japanese are closely related to metarepresentational ability.
