Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to clarify the theory and practice of the science curriculum design at elementary school in post-war Japan. Through the study of documentary records, the following conclusions were reached. Genjiro Oka (1901-84) who worked at the bureau of textbook in the Ministry of Education in Japan performed to make up the new framework of science curriculum, accepting the American information of science education, for example, the Course of Study for Virginia Elementary Science (1943) and the Course of Study for Spokane Public School (1943) in Washington which were offered by the American officers of the CIE in the GHQ/SCAP.
