Research Abstract |
Selenium is an essential micronutrient for many organisms, including humans. It is present in proteins as a selenocysteine(Sec) residue(s), which is known as the 21^(st) amino acid that is translationally incorporated into proteins. To elucidate structural basis of selenocysteine biosynthesis, we determined 3D structures of these proteins and tRNA by X-ray crystallography.
