Research Abstract |
5-Aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza) effecectively induced WT-1 in human embryonic stem cells, KhES-1, 2 and 3. Next we transplanted 5-Aza treated KhES-1, 2 and 3 into the kidney capsule of SCID mice. After 6-24 weeks, we found generation of kidney tubular cells, but not endothelial cells and podocytes. Our results demonstrated that 5-Aza promotes differentiation of human ES cells to kidney cells, especially tubular cells.
