Research Abstract

Carbonyl compound methylglyoxal induced salt sensitive hypertension, insulin resistance and renal injury which involves in the pathogenesis of chronic kidney disease. These mechanisms are associated with enhanced renal NAD(P)H oxidase, tubular oxygen metabolism and mitochondrial electron chain transport which could result in enhanced medullary carbonyl/oxidative stress and ischemia.
