Research Abstract |
Therapeutic strategy for osteosarcoma has grown stagnant since 1980's. In this study, we showed the anti-tumor effect of Laroxifen (SERM: selective estrogen receptor modulator) on osteosarcoma in vitro. Moreover, in a murine sarcoma metastases model using osteosarcoma cell line LM8, female mice lived significantly longer than male mice and ovariectomized female mice. These observations indicated that female sex hormones might be candidates as new therapeutic strategy for osteosarcoma.
