Research Abstract |
I evaluated patterns of p-CREB induction in guinea pig vestibular ganglion cells after various kinds of vestibular disorders. In each model, p-CREB had disappeared within 8 hours after disorder. On the basis of this fact, I found that direct inner ear infusion of rolipram, one of antidepressants, induced p-CREB up-regulation in vestibular ganglion cells. While, rolipram also induced some damage on vestibular ganglion cells morphologically. Next, amitriptyline, a tricyclic antidepressant, was applied systemically to guinea pig with vestibular disorder, and facilitated vestibular functional recovery.
