有機デバイス材料の個性を知る:移動度の直接評価

Research Abstract

ホッピング伝導およびバンド伝導は有機半導体薄膜における重要な電荷輸送機構であり、その中身を定量的に理解することがデバイス特性の飛躍的向上へ不可欠である。我々は有機半導体高配向薄膜を作製することで、ホッピング伝導の中身である二つの物理量「再配向エネルギー」と「トランスファー積分」を求め、移動度を直接的に評価する手法を提唱した。本課題では古来の手法である紫外光電子分光法(UPS)を高度な実験技法によって新規視点で活用し、分光学的手法のみで直接、第一原理的に移動度を求める。分子本来が持ちうる個性を数値化することで、産業界へ斬新なデバイス設計指針を与えることが目的である。21年度の主な成果として、ルブレン単結晶について紫外光電子分光測定を行うことに成功し、世界で初めてエネルギーバンド分散関係を実測した。ルブレンは高移動度を示すことが知られ、応用面のみならず基礎的観点からも有機固体におけるキャリアの挙動を議論する上での好サンプルとして関心を集めてきた。しかし試料帯電問題からこれまで有機単結晶の光電子分光測定例はなく、キャリア伝導機構とその有効質量など基本的な物性値について、様々な議論があり統一的な理解が得られていなかった。今回の角度分解紫外光電子分光測定の結果から、ルブレン単結晶ではバンド伝導が室温においても支配的であること、また極めて小さな有効質量と大きな格子定数が、高移動度発現の源であることを明らかにした。本内容について「Physical Review Letters誌」にて発表した。
