Research Abstract

1000億個のニューロンから構成される神経回路網は、普遍的な遺伝子プログラムに基づく設計図に由来する「剛」の性質と、個体毎に内部・外部の環境変化に刻一刻と対応しその経験を情報として回路内に書き込める「柔」の特性を併せ持つ。さらに、脳の活動は、神経回路を構成するニューロン間の情報受け渡しにコードされているが、一つ一つのニューロンの応答性は、細胞内の電気的シグナルと化学的シグナルの複雑な絡み合いから成り立つ。
本研究課題では、神経情報を受容する樹状突起に特に着目する。そして樹状突起における分子シグナリングを、以下の3つの側面から徹底的に解明を試みる:
(1)シグナル統合のコンパートメントとなる樹状突起の形成・成熟の分子機構.
(2)シナプス活動により発生した局所シグナルが神経細胞体まで伝わり、転写・翻訳・細胞骨格動員などの機構の活性化により、細胞全体の応答性が変化する分子機構.
(3)細胞全体の応答性の変化が、最初のシグナルを発生したシナプスの性質を選択的に、かつ長期的に修飾する分子機構.
