安定同位体から見た原生代末期ゴンドワナ超大陸形成に関わる流体の地球規模的動態

Research Abstract

本研究では、温室効果ガス中の炭素-酸素-水素-硫黄(C-O-H-S)元素の地殻-地球大気間の移動について、硫黄の四つの同位体をレーザーアブレーション法で処理することで、1)「マントル」から「大気」へのC-O-H-S流体の「移動」と広域なテクトニクスとの関係、2)「堆積物」から「大気」へのC-O-H-S流体の「移動」と大陸衝突との関係、3)C-O-H-S元素が、硫化物やグラファイトとして下部地殻に「固定」される過程、を明らかにすることを目的とする。
本年度は、以下について検討を行った。
(1)先行研究で硫黄同位体組成が求められているバルマット鉱床の黄鉄鉱のサンプルを用い、レーザーアブレーション法による硫化物の測定を行った。厚片にしたサンプルにフッ素大気中でフェムト秒レーザーを照射することでSF6ガスを生成し、MAT-251質量分析計を用いて硫黄同位体を測定した。
(2)東ゴンドワナ大陸と西ゴンドワナ大陸の衝突時に形成された大理石のサンプルについて炭素、酸素およびストロンチウム同位体分析を行った。この結果から、大理石の堆積年代が明らかになった。さらに、変成過程に関しても理解が深まった。
(3)南インドのグラニュライト相から採集した泥質ミグマタイトのサンプルについて、SIMSによるグラファイトの炭素同位体分析を行った。その結果、マイクロメータースケールでの同位体累帯構造が明らかになった。これにより、地殻内における部分溶融による炭素循環が示唆された。
