Research Abstract |
Resveratrol (3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene ; RSV) is a polyphenol found in particularly high concentrations in peanut skin and vine. Here we investigated the anti-mutagenic effects of RSV in Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain 7B. Our results showed that RSV pretreatment for 24 h decreased mutagenesis. Thus the exposure of S. cerevisiae 7B to RSV induces an anti-aging effect. This result raises intense interest for the potentially beneficial effects of RSV on human health.
