| Research Abstract |
日本の古代・中世・近世・近代それぞれの時代において、(1)「神」の思想、(2)「仏」の思想、(3)「庶民」の思想のうちから代表的なテキスト(及びその周辺資料)を選び読解することによって、日本における「死者」の観念を具体的に浮き彫りにしてゆく。その際に、テキスト読解だけでは知り得ない部分を補うため、(4)テキストに関わる寺社・霊場・墳墓等の現地調査(景観調査・神体仏像調査・資料調査)を並行して行う。以上をふまえ、年度ごとに各時代の「死者」イメージについて小括を行い、最終年度にそれらの成果を総合して、「死者」についての通史を構築する。
