Research Abstract |
This research project has dealt with polarization among major political parties in industrialized nations. The fundamental question has been what makes party politics polarized. While it is often pointed out that introduction of the primary has had great effects on polarization, based on the comparative analyses of American and Japanese cases, I have found that political institutions matter.
