Research Abstract

原子で作られた乳幼児の玩具の「ガラガラ」のような構造を有する充填スクッテルダイトという物質では、電子の見かけの質量が通常の100倍以上重くなる現象が観測される。本研究では、電子の見かけの質量が重くなる機構を明らかにするために、充填スクッテルダイトの原子振動状態を調べた。充填スクッテルダイトでは「ガラガラ」構造内の原子には共通して室温の1/3以下に相当する非常に小さなエネルギーで振動することがわかった。
