Research Abstract |
The present study aims to find out biological functions of Vitamin D receptor (VDR) on inflammatory disease. VDRKO mice as well as Cyp27b1KO mice exhibit more severe phenotype than WT mice when treated with dextran sodium sulphate (DSS) to induce colitis. However no significant difference was observed in VDRKO mice and Cyp27b1KO mice. These data indicated that vitamin D is indispensable for biological function of VDR in colon and liganded VDR relieved the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease.
