Research Abstract |
We investigated how microenvironment regulates cell growth in gastrointestinal epithelium. IL-6 secreted by epithelial cells was shown to regulate cell growth through STAT3 activation, probably via the nuclear translocation of beta-catenin by STAT3 and resulting Wnt signaling activation. Innate immunity has been reported to regulate intestinal microenvironment, and the crosstalk between innate immunity and Wnt signaling shoud be further analyzed.
