Research Abstract

Anti-rheumatic agent T-614 significantly suppressed serum concentration of interleukin-8(IL-8), tumor size, and the number of tumors in the rat hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) models. In addition, immunohistochemical staining of the rat liver (both normal hepatocytes and HCC cells) using anti-CD31 revealed significant decrease in CD 31 positive cells. Since IL-8 plays an important role in angiogenesis through CD31 molecule, these results suggest that T-614 may contribute as an anti-angiogenic therapy in HCC.
