Research Abstract |
The rabbits received an injection of cultured bone marrow stromal cells(BMSCs) or BMP-2 into the distracted tissue at the end of distraction. Each distracted mandible and gingival tissue were evaluated at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after the end of distraction. This study showed that an injection of tissue-engineered osteogenic material at the end of distraction promoted new bone formation following a higher rate of distraction (3.0 mm / day). However, these materials might not affect distracted gingival tissue.
