Research Abstract |
The fabrication process of Fe-N magnetic particles was investigated in both direct and indirect synthesis method for the purpose of realizing Fe-N compound(Fe_<16>N_2) based permanent magnets. In the direct synthesis method, Fe_3N and Fe_4N nano particles whose average particle size is about 10nm were successfully synthesized by the decomposition of Fe(CO)_5 in NH_3 atmosphere. In the indirect method, the condition in which Fe_<16>N_2 phase can be formed was found out in the process that Fe_2O_3 powder is reduced in H_2, and successively exposed in NH_3.
