Research Abstract |
We demonstrated that shockwave treatment applied to cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells upregulated mRNA expression of vascular endothelial growth factor, although further studies are required to determine the optimal condition of the shockwave treatment. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy to a rat model of chronic heart failure was performed, which induced a tendency to improve both left ventricular contractile function and survival rate.
