Research Abstract |
Mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K^+ (mitoK_<ATP>) channel in cardiac myocytes and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) which is one of the pro-survival kinases play key roles in cardioprotection. This study clarified that PI3K is not linked to mitoK_<ATP> channels although ghrelin treatment at reperfusion reduces infarct size via both mitoK_<ATP> channel activation and a PI3K-mediated pathway.
