Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The transferred budget was used to visit laboratories of collaborators in Germany and France, and attend two scientific conferences in Germany. The lab visits served the purpose of comparing 3D microwear texture data obtained on different confocal microscopes from the same specimens. Through this inter-microscope comparison, we will be able to introduce correction factors for each microscope, and make data comparable. The attended conferences were the German Vertebrate paleontology meeting, where the JSPS fellow gave a keynote talk, and the International Symposium on Dental Morphology (ISDM), where the fellow presented a paper that was derived from the JSPS fellowship and published in 2022. Additionally, in collaboration with Clemson University a controlled feeding experiment with alligators was performed, and data will be analyzed.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Proceeded more than expected. Data collection in France and Germany provided two additional datasets from two other types of confocal microscopes.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Data analysis (alligator tooth wear, inter-microscope comparison), publication of results
